Old Mill Festival Information Can I come just for the community event? Yes! If you do not want to participate in the actual float you are welcome and encouraged to come to the community event starting at noon held at The Island, Mill Street, West Milford ; GPS points: N39.19845 W080.40611. There is no need to register for the community event. More information regarding Float the Fork Registration available on the "Registration" page. Float the Fork Information What kind of boat can I use? We only allow kayaks, canoes and stand up paddle boards on this float. How long with the float take? The float is just under 6 miles long. We estimate that it will take between 2-4 hours to complete this float. I am not an experienced paddler can I still participate? Definitely! We welcome all experience levels to our float. There will be experienced safety boaters on the water to help you if needed. Do I need to wear a life jacket? The state of West Virginia requires all children 12 years and younger to wear a life jacket on a boat. We strongly encourage everyone to wear a life jacket at all times on the water. What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? You will drop off your boat and sign in at the Good Hope access point. From there you will park your car at the West Milford Community Center. Then we will shuttle you back to Good Hope, so you can get on the water! When should I drop-off my kayak? Kayak drop-off will begin on Friday at 4pm in Good Hope, WV. Float personnel will be on-site through Saturday morning to accompany the kayaks. Friday evening drop-off is highly recommended. Are kayak rentals for the float available? Kayak rentals are available through Explore WV (www.explorewvmore.com or call 304-566-9613) and Appalachian Boarding Company. Available rentals are limited and must be arranged by the individual. |
